Welcome to the Studio
All Matwork and equipment sessions are held at HW Pilates Studio in Orpington where I offer both 1:1 and 1:2 private sessions.
The studio is an inclusive space where everyone is welcome, you may even get a greeting from Dakota, my lovely lab.
1:1 Session
Our 1:1 session time can be on-line or face to face in the studio. A single 60 minute session, ideal for those keen to explore how Pilates might help & support you. Either way you will get clear guidance and advice in a subtle but powerful work. You will feel calmer after a complete body workout.
1:2 Sessions
Semi- private sessions are perfect for achieving your goals and tailoring the session to your needs and you’ll be sharing your experience with a friend or partner. You’ll both work at a level or pace that’s right for you, while the personal attention and bespoke programming means that you’ll progress further and faster, and see and feel the benefits sooner than you would you in a class.
Springboard Sessions
Springboard Pilates is an incredible addition to a mat based session.
An increased resistance of the springs will create an even greater challenge and sense of connection to your deep stabilising muscles. Mat based Pilates is challenging in it’s own right but by adding the arm springs and leg springs, we keep our muscles under constant tension.
What’s the difference between a Reformer and a Springboard?
Whilst the springs may appear similar to those on the Reformer, the feeling is completely different. There are two main reasons for this.
Firstly, each limb works independently, carrying its own weight. Most of us are stronger on one side so we feel that difference immediately.
Secondly, the springs are higher than on a Reformer and are placed behind or in front of the body (depending on whether you are facing the board or facing away from it) instead of below it. That affects the pull of the springs significantly. The combination of the added instability of working independently on each limb, and the stronger pull of the springs makes the springboard experience special.
If you regularly attend mat based sessions, this perfectly compliments the mat experience. Introductory packages are available.
